2011 Bentley Mulsanne enters the 2010 Concours d'LeMons

In case you're not familiar, the Concours d'LeMons was recently described by our own Frank Markus as, "a refuge available where even Thousandaires rolling rented Sebrings can walk smugly among the car-world's hoi polloi feeling all superior 'n stuff." Long story short, it's a show for $500 cars. As the founders told me upon arrival, "The Concours d'LeMons is put on to counter the uppercrust, privileged attitude that is induced by arriving at Monterey Auto Week in a Bentley." Point being, you'd have to be a pretty big jerk to bring a car to Concours d'LeMons worth several times more than all the other vehicles present, combined. Hi Mom. Here's the thing, however. As an automotive journalist, I'm only playing rich with a borrowed Bentley. Still, I did get a C in theater class back in the 10th grade. Or was that a D? Either way, I began psyching myself up on the ride down to Toro Park by chanting in my most ridiculous British accent, "Ding dong old chap! Let's take the Mullsy down to the LeMons...

BENTLEY Continental SuperSports (2010)

Click Thumbnail to download (size 1600 x 1200 pixels)

BENTLEY Continental SuperSports (2010)

== The Bentley Continental Supersports is the fastest and most powerful Bentley ever. It is the extreme Bentley, a muscular two-seater that delivers supercar performance and a highly focused driving experience. The Bentley Continental Supersports is also the first Bentley capable of running on both petrol (gasoline) and biofuel, pioneering the use of FlexFuel technology in the luxury sector. This represents stage one of the company's commitment to make its complete model range compatible with renewable fuels by 2012. Available worldwide from autumn 2009, the Bentley Continental Supersports will be FlexFuel compatible in the majority of markets from launch with North American cars offering the capability by summer 2010, following regulatory approval. - The Bentley Continental Supersports began as an 'under the radar' project exploring the possibilities of weight reduction on the Bentley Continental GT but with more power and torque. A largely experimental process crystallised over a period of 24 months into an official new car programme, driven by the passion and enthusiasm of a small group of Bentley engineers and designers. The results are dramatic. With 630PS (621 bhp) and new 'Quickshift' transmission that halves shift times, the Bentley Continental Supersports sets new performance benchmarks for Bentley. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds) with a top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h). - Supercar performance is complemented by an array of chassis enhancements including retuned steering and suspension, utilising lighter weight components, retuned dampers and anti-roll bars. Agility is further sharpened by the 40:60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system, a wider rear track, bespoke lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels and a unique electronic stability programme. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard fitment, benefiting steering response, grip and ride comfort, while saving weight. Overall, the engineering team have achieved a weight reduction of 110 kg (243 lb) compared with the Bentley Continental GT Speed. - The evolution of the Bentley Continental Supersports' design is very much a case of 'form following function' with new purposeful sculptural forms signalling the engineering changes beneath the skin. For example, the increased power and torque of the W12 engine necessitated additional airflow to the twin turbocharger intercoolers and cooling system. Bentley's designers responded with a purposeful and dramatic style that features large vertical intake apertures and twin bonnet vents. Similarly, new flared rear wings that accommodate the 50 mm (2 inches) wider rear track are designed to emphasise the powerful stance of this ultra-high performance coupe. The resultant Supersports style combines the looks of the iconic Continental GT with a new and distinctive appearance that reflects its more extreme character. ==

Teaser shots for Bentley's new 2010 Continental Supersports have been making their way round the internet for the past couple of weeks, but today Bentley was finally ready to unleash exhaustive details on their new E85-capable 621 horsepower Continental Supersports 2 seat supercar.

The Continental Supersports shares most body pieces and drivetrain architecture with the Continental GT Speed, though both interior and exterior have been beefed up to handle all that extra power. New are larger standard 20 inch wheels with what Bentley boasts are the largest and strongest brakes on any production car.

The Continental Supersports also gets a trick automatically deploying rear spoiler that is completely hidden in the sublime bodywork. Wider track relative to Continental GT Speed models necessitates new flared fenders, and enlargened inlets feed air through the twin-turbocharged air intake system.

E85 ethanol, while clean-burning and mostly eco-friendly, is more corrosive than conventional gasoline. Thus, Bentley has replaced most of the engine internals in its turbocharged W12 powerplant. All the rings, seals and gaskets are unique to the Continental Supersports, meaning a greater focus on extreme performance is possible with this engine.

The Continental Supersports gets a modified version of the AWD system found in lesser Continental models. In this application, the AWD system distributes 40 percent torque to the front wheels and 60 percent to the rear by default. Through the use of electronic locking differentials torque can be reapplied as the situation requires, naturally.

The 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports currently has a release date this Spring, though Bentley says US models are still waiting on regulators' approval to run on the E85 spewing out of North American pumps. The car is adequately engineered, and the British motor company expects full ethanol certification by August.

Bentley Sport Cars Bentley Silver Wings Concept

The British carmaker Bentley, owned by Volkswagen Group had displayed a W16 powered super sports cars at the Geneva Motor show. The project was conceived as a virtual mid-engined successor to the 1999 Hunaudieres Concept. The front end of this vehicle features an aggressive front splitter and air intake set up to emulate the F22 Jet and is characterized by the trademark Bentley domed grill and twin circular headlights.
The Bentley Silver Wings Concept also features a raised beltline and diminishing character lines that help define the supercar embodiment of this concept and elongate the rear-end of this vehicle. This really is the Bentley of supercars...
Dubbed the Bentley Sport Cars Bentley Silver Wings Concept, the concept is inspired by the brand’s racing heritage as well as the F22 Raptor jet fighter. Bentley Silver Wings Concept is the usual hodgepodge of design elements from Aston Martin, Zonda, Saleen and Bentley of course, but it still has a certain charm about it.

The Silver Wing concept car uses a harmonious mix between mid-engine layout and aggressive design cues. The front end uses an aggressive layout built around Bentley’s characteristic domed grille and headlights that draw inspiration from the company’s current design language. The exterior also includes large rear air intakes for the rear brakes, and the 20" or 21" alloy wheels.
Shawn Wood and Guohua Cheng are two industrial designers recently graduated from the Industrial Design course at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA), China. They are two college kids from China have come up with something that will blow your mind completely. The W16 display car, which was a concept called the Hunaudières had a cab-forward design with sleek looks and was done up in British Racing Green. The concept cars had more chrome than Ludacris’ Escalade.

Paris 2010: 2011 Bentley Continental GT, live and in the flesh

2011 Bentley Continental GT live debut

Here is your first glimpse at the redesigned 2011 Bentley Continental GT as it makes its world debut at the Paris Motor Show. Earlier, we mentioned that it will receive a nearly four percent price hike over the previous model, which is nothing compared to the overall improvements the new car has received.

Like any car, it has good and bad angles (obviously, the exception to this rule is the Maserati GranTurisumo which looks beautiful from every angle...) – we'll hold off final judgment until we can see it outside in natural light, not surrounded by a mob of flash bulbs and clamoring journalists.

2010 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Black Bison Concept

So far, Bentley has been keeping busy with their upcoming Continental GT, but sometime after the grand touring luxury coupe gets released, we would bet that the British manufacturer will move on to the next generation of the Continental Flying Spur. Can’t wait until then to see a refreshed Bentley? Don’t worry, Japanese tuner, Wald International, has been thinking of the folks that want to see

Online configurator for the new Bentley Continental GT

Bentley Continental GT

The Continental GT has only just been unveiled and already Bentley is giving potential owners the chance to customize their Continental GT. The online configurator is called the "Visualiser" and it allows you to see your Continental GT in one of 14 exterior colors, a range of wheel designs, and numerous interior choices. Not exactly the perfect configurator on the market, but at least everyone will be able to get an idea of what Bentley has to offer!

All you have to do is get online and start having some fun!

Refresher: The new Continental GT gets a more upright grille with new headlamp design, in traditional four-lamp format and LED daylight-running lamps, a bootlid inspired by the Bentley Mulsanne and flared elliptical exhaust tailpipes. Under the hood there is a 6.0 liter W12 powertrain that delivers a total of 567 HP and 700 NM of torque. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 198 mph.

2011 Bentley Continental GT arrives with new design, optional V8

2011 Bentley Continental GT

The 2011 Bentley Continental GT is just the second generation of the blockbuster coupe that rumbled ashore eight years ago. And frankly, this new one looks a lot like that ancient one, but Bentley would have us believe that this is actually a completely new car. Outside, the bodywork gets all kinds of massaging: prominent front fender lines that roll over the headlights and into the more-upright grille, a more pronounced grille treatment that asserts itself into the lower intake, LED running lamps surrounding the main headlight elements, a double-horseshoe rear-end treatment inspired by the Mulsanne and taillights that curl into the rear fenders. For a start...

More substantively, the 2011 Conti gets a boost in horsepower from its 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine, hitting 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet. The engine swipes a page from the Continental Supersports playbook and gains flex-fuel capability, accepting any combination of gasoline and E85. To keep you in touch with that power, Bentley's six-speed Quickshift transmission swaps cogs more quickly and does double downshifts. To keep that power in the right place, the rear track is wider, front-to-rear bias of the all-wheel-drive system is now 40/60 front-to-rear, and the coefficient of drag has been reduced to 0.33. 0-60 mph? 4.4 seconds? Top speed? 198 mph.

As of next year, the nominally eco-conscious will be able to get their Continental GT with a 4.0-liter V8. Numbers haven't been released yet, but you can expect it to register high on the horse and torque while getting significantly better gas mileage than its big brother.

Perhaps the best upgrade of all: the interior accoutrements that now boast an eight-inch touchscreen interface, dynamic navigation and Google Maps. Joining that are a sleeker dash, climate-controlled "Cobra" seats sculpted to provide more rear legroom, and leather-lined door pouches with water bottle holders. It's everything the current Continental GT is.

Bentley Azure T, 2009

Bentley Azure T, 2009

Stylish and powerful, the new Bentley Azure T is the world's most elegant convertible and destined to become a future classic. With unique Bentley 'T' styling cues reinforcing its sporting stance, the 500bhp Azure T delivers driver-focused performance with the ability to transport four adults in first-class, open-top luxury.

The Bentley Azure T, specified with the high performance version of Crewe's iconic 6¾ litre V8 engine, is the latest in a line of Bentley models to bear the 'T' legend. The 1996 Continental coupe was the first modern Bentley 'T', followed in 2002 by the Arnage T, both flagship models with a distinctive sporting character and thunderous performance.

A UNIQUE OPEN-TOP MOTORING EXPERIENCE

Based on the Azure, the Bentley Azure T offers a range of discreet exterior cues that further enhance its powerful stance and hint at its increased performance potential. Key ingredients of its distinctive appearance include design features 20-inch five-spoke, two-piece alloy wheels and 'Le Mans' lower front wing air vents.

Further distinguishing points from the Azure are standard features such as dark-tinted upper and lower grilles, 'jewel' fuel filler cap (made from billet aluminium) and door mirror mountings finished in body colour.

Like the Bentley Brooklands, the Azure T sports the iconic Flying 'B' mascot, which can retract neatly into the grille surround. Originally designed by motoring artist F. Gordon Crosby, the 'B' was first used on the 1930 Bentley 8-Litre.

EFFORTLESS PERFORMANCE FROM MIGHTY V8
The engine and transmission of the Bentley Azure T are identical to those already employed in the high-performance Arnage T and Arnage Final Series saloons. In this specification, Bentley's remarkable all-aluminium 6¾ litre V8 engine produces 500 bhp (507PS/373kW) and 1000 Nm (738lb ft) of torque - with over 90 per cent of that torque available between 1,800 and 3,800 rev/min - figures that ensure the signature Bentley 'wave of torque' delivers effortless performance for a unique open-top convertible driving experience.

Each of these hand-made V8 engines comes with a black-finish air intake manifold bearing the signature of the team leader who oversaw its construction by Bentley technicians in the Crewe factory. The six-speed ZF automatic transmission ensures optimum flexibility, response and refinement. Three transmission modes (Drive, Sport and Manual) allow the driver to take full advantage of the powerful 500 bhp V8 engine.

A sophisticated electronic management system provides fast yet smooth gearshifts regardless of how the car is being driven. Another important feature of the latest Bentley Azure T is the separation of the sports suspension and sports gearbox settings, allowing the driver to select their preference for each system independently - via a 'Sport' switch on the dashboard for the suspension and by positioning the gear lever for the transmission's Sport mode.

Bentley's V8 guarantees outstanding performance levels. From standstill, acceleration to 60 mph is achieved in just 5.2 seconds (0-100 km/h 5.5 seconds), 100 mph reached in 12.1 seconds (160 km/h in 12.0 seconds) and a top speed of 179 mph (288 km/h) is possible.

DYNAMIC HANDLING, SUPERB RIDE AND AWESOME BRAKING
The Azure's double wishbone front and rear suspension is carried over to the Bentley Azure T unaltered. Set-up and fine-tuned to give a refined ride that best suits the character of this convertible Bentley, the system features coil springs with computer-controlled, adaptive electro-hydraulic dampers and automatic ride-height control with auto-load compensation.

The Azure T's suspension delivers impressive body control in all driving conditions, while the new five-spoke, two-piece 8.5J x 20-inch Sports alloy wheels with 255/40 ZR20 Pirelli P Zero tyres further improve handling and road holding.

EXQUISITE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Befitting its role as a new Bentley flagship convertible, the Bentley Azure T embodies a range of standard features that were previously unavailable or only available as cost options on the Azure. The seats and door panels have Diamond Quilting, the fascia features an 'engine-turned' aluminium finish (reminiscent of 1920s racing Bentleys), and the instrument faces are finished in Black rather than Parchment.
